One-day excursion to Mistra – Mani – “Land of the olive tree”

One-day trip to Mystras, Mani and Areopolis, on 05/11, only by 35€.

Tour programme:

Mystras – Areopolis. In the morning we depart and with intermediate stops we continue to the historic Mystras. Visit to the byzantine state with free entrance. Under the castle everything – palaces and churches, fortifications and gates, mansions and houses, streets and fountains – record the unique historical route of the seat of the Moravian Despotate. We continue with a visit to the historic capital of Mani Areopolis. The wild and at the same time charming natural landscape of Areopolis is adorned with stone houses and imposing stone towers that give an air of pride to the area, creating a unique setting that will impress every visitor. The statue of Petrobeis Mavromichalis dominates the square of the Immortals. In Areopolis you will find scattered many remarkable churches such as the church of the Pammegiston Taxiarches, the metropolis of Areopolis, where the Maniates congregated before the liberation struggle on 17 March 1821 and swore “Victory or Death”. In the church you will be impressed by the exquisite sculpted iconostasis and the multi-storey bell tower of 1836 that is a trademark of the area. Here we will have free time to eat in the local taverns to Areopolis, home of the Mavromichalaians, where we will have free time to eat in the local taverns. In the afternoon we depart for our city, with the best pictures from our excursion!
