In Crete, where tradition meets modern creativity, Portego stands as a gastronomic beacon for those seeking an authentic yet original dining experience. With a name that alludes to a “passage” or “stoa,” Portego invites you to enter a world where the love for good cuisine is felt from the first bite.

The space, with its modern aesthetic and subtle touches of tradition, exudes warmth and intimacy. It is not just a restaurant — it is a meeting point, a haven for lovers of good food and wine.

Portego’s menu is a hymn to the raw materials of the Cretan land. Fresh vegetables, excellent olive oil, local meats and seafood, all cooked with passion and imagination. Classic Cretan recipes are reinterpreted with a modern eye, creating dishes that surprise and move. From a well-made dako to an elegant lamb with stamnagathi, every taste is a story.

The wine list includes selected labels from local and Greek vineyards, providing the opportunity for harmonious combinations with each dish. The staff, polite and knowledgeable, ensures that every visit is special.

A special thing at Portego is the private olive oil tasting experience, lasting one hour. Michalis Leventis, certified olive oil sommelier and founder of the Cretan Arc company, guides you on a journey through three different varieties of Crete. The experience becomes interactive, with authentic tasting glasses, while each oil is accompanied by a small food pairing, specially selected to highlight the uniqueness of each variety.
The same applies to the private wine tasting, with selected labels from the Cretan and Greek vineyards, always with a tasteful match that highlights the character of each glass.
Participation cost:
Both experiences combined: 80€ (40€ + 40€)

Portego is not just a place to eat. It is an experience — a culinary journey that honors Cretan tradition, but is not afraid to redefine it.
